    RVC October 2024 Investor Forum

    Hosted Virtually via Zoom

Please join us virtually for pitches from a few great companies, investor updates on deals-in-play, and to discuss what we’re seeing in the world of angel investing. The October Investor Forum will be the last investor forum in 2024, and we're hoping to see as many of you as possible online to make this a great event!

RVC Investor Forums bring together accredited angel investors interested in fast-growing, early-stage companies in Colorado. These forums serve to pool the wisdom, expertise, and capital of many individual angels. At this forum, investor members will hear pitches, and afterwards the founders are excused and investors discuss the merits and risks of each venture. There is no requirement to invest and each investor has an opportunity to indicate interest in following or leading a specific deal. Both new and experienced investor members are welcome at forums -- this is the best way to learn hands-on about angel investing!

    Presenting Companies

Pomarium introduces a groundbreaking technology that enables financial advisors to collaboratively create portfolios with their clients on demand. This innovation integrates advisors' investment goals with clients' personal values, offering tailored portfolios for all clients, irrespective of account size, without compromising on investment quality.

Electric Outdoors is on a mission to revolutionize how people access the outdoors sustainably. Its flagship product, the EO Canopy, is a sw-enabled, portable, solar-powered, off-grid camping platform that enables landowners to unlock new land and destinations and generate new revenue streams without the burden and cost of infrastructure development.

TYBR Health has developed B3 GEL, the first versatile, flowable biologic barrier gel designed to protect healing tissues and prevent scarring and adhesions—common post-surgical complications that prolong recovery and drive up healthcare costs. Engineered for both open and minimally invasive procedures, B3 GEL initially focuses on tendon and ligament repairs, which are often associated with chronic stiffness and pain. TYBR Health is backed by Y Combinator and Medtech Innovator.

ZuCasa has developed a B2B/B2B2C tech stack that merges Streaming, Social, and Gaming features from leading Apps into one solution, all made possible by proprietary compression that lowers costs and improves stability. Proven at scale with the largest broadcaster in the world, and deal flow generating millions in revenue, ZuCasa’s current focus is on scaling.

To attend this event, you must be accredited: Net worth of at least one million US dollars, not including the value of one’s primary residence, or have made at least $200,000 each year for the last two years [or $300,000 if jointly filing] and have the expectation to make the same amount this year. We do not require a minimum investment.

This special Pitch Academy is run by Rockies Venture Club in cooperation with CU Innovations SPARK|REACH for SPARK|REACH applicants and awardees.

The Pitch Academy is a workshop designed to polish your pitch, sharpen your strategy, and provide a background on what investors are looking for so that you can better connect with your audience and ultimately secure funding. It is designed for life science groups to address some of the challenges and opportunities when pitching new technologies to both experienced life science investors and generalist venture capitalists.

    Key topics covered include:

    • Focus your 10-minute pitch
    • How to present
    • Effective pitch deck design
    • How to pace your presentation
    • How to communicate the value of your product in a way that doesn't close doors
    • How to communicate your "deal"
    • How to balance pitching your product vs. pitching your company. This is especially important with life science companies as your company is the product in your pitch and you need to cover the science, while also demonstrating a sound business plan with clear execution and financial orientation.
    • Understanding investor psychology (i.e. growth and exit strategy first - science second)
    • Raising equity vs. convertible debt/SAFE and how to create 24% greater wealth creation for founders by structuring your deals properly.
    • Tranching strategies to minimize dilution, engage investors, and maximize founder returns.
    • Communicating risks in such a way that investors are put at ease. (Many early stage investors shun life science companies because they feel that it will take a billion dollars and decades to actually get to market!)
    • How life science companies can think about exit strategies including multiple "off ramps" opportunities where exits may occur well before commercialization.
    • What to do to follow-up after the pitch.

The RVC Pitch Academy is unique in that it is taught by instructors who work one-on-one with dozens of angel and venture capital investors in order to determine what it is that they want. About a third of the companies that RVC investors have invested in have been in life sciences because they see the value in this sector. Graduates of the Pitch Academy receive funding at over ten times the national rate for those who are seeking venture investment.

All participants are encouraged to have their pitch deck ready and you will get a chance to pitch in a 10-minute format and receive expert feedback and input from the RVC team, investors, and your peers.

    Schedule:
       9:00am - 12:00pm - Intros, Pitch Academy Workshop
       12:00pm - 12:30pm – Lunch/Break
       12:30pm - 4:00pm -- Pitch Practice

In order to pack everything into one short week, we are looking for experienced business people who bring their expertise to startups pitching for capital. Mentors work one-on-one with pitch companies to help them craft their strategy and present the information that investors need to know. These will be highly dynamic sessions that are sure to be fun!
